Patient Journey

First visit guide

Appointments can be made in person, over the phone or online. SMS reminders are sent via our online bookings the day before your appointment.


We welcome new patients to the surgery, we do ask for you to come along to your scheduled appointments 15 minutes earlier to fill in a new patient form and allow us time to enter on our computer system. For continuity of care, we will also ask you to agree to terms and conditions, as well as give signed consent for us to request your records from your previous GP.


Please bring your Medicare and any concessions cards you may have with you as well. This is important so that we have correct details to communicate with Medicare.


A very important item is details your next of kin & emergency contact. In the event of an emergency or to check on a patient wellbeing, we may need to contact the patients next of kin or emergency contact.


Consultations

Standard appointment times are 15 minutes. If you require a longer appointment, please advise reception at the time of booking appointment. We do try our best to accommodate the time, day and preference of the doctor to the best of our ability. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please advise the surgery as soon as possible. We use a text message reminder system for upcoming appointments. Please ensure you notify reception of any mobile number changes so we can get in contact with you in case any changes or reminders for appointments.


In the event of a delay, Reception will try and contact you to advise of the wait time, or reschedule your appointment for a different time/day.


Emergency appointments

We hope you never experience the need for urgent care. However, be assured that should you require urgent treatment by a GP, we pride ourselves on providing regular patients access to medical care when they need it.


In the event of an emergency please call “000” or present to the nearest hospital.


Discount fees to pension and health care card holders are at the discretion of the doctor. Fees are subject to change as are the Medicare rebates.


All procedures are privately billed.


Payment is required at the time of the consultation. If you have a problem with payment please ask to speak in confidence with the practice manager. An account fee may be charged if an account is raised.

Tura Beach does NOT charge a “Room Fee” for procedures. All pathology following a removal is usually bulk billed.

At Tura Beach Medical Centre, we pride ourselves on our ability to offer more specialised medical services in addition to a complete primary healthcare model. Our team of health professionals take the time to listen to your concerns to achieve optimal health outcomes. They are committed to preventative health care, chronic disease management, education and improving the quality of health care delivered.


Our practice provides medical and clinical staff access to a range of resources and materials for reference on clinical matters and items of interest for professional development. General practitioners access current information on medicines to enable best practice prescribing.


We are selective about the guidelines and resources our practice team use to support information provided during a consultation. We aim to ensure the guidelines and resources contain culturally appropriate, current and evidence-based information and are obtained from reputable sources.

Allied Team

Our practice engages with a range of health, community and disability services to plan and facilitate optimal patient care to patients whose health needs require integration with other services.


A readily accessible computerised directory of health and community services utilised by patients within our area, including how to refer or contact these agencies, is maintained and updated regularly.


All members of our medical and clinical team are encouraged to coordinate patient care across the general practice setting with other health services and to build good working relationships with these providers to facilitate collaborative care.


Currently we have onsite pathology and monthly visits from National Hearing, but are continually looking for opportunities to provide further services to our patients.


Our practice nurses are onsite Monday to Friday from 8-30am to 5pm. They assist in wound management, immunisations, triaging patients and provide assistance to the doctors with procedures The nurses also support the doctor, seeing patients prior to their doctors’ appointments for care plans and health assessments, diabetic reviews, driving license medicals, BP checks, performing ECG and spirometry.

Our team of health professionals are committed to preventative health care, chronic disease management, education and improving the quality of health care delivered. We are always looking at opportunities to expand and enhance the services available to patients, that we believe will achieve optimal health outcomes.
